Chaga is a powerful adaptogenic, anti-inflammatory mushroom that grows in a parasitic fashion on (most commonly) birch trees. It is native to the Duluth, MN area, and therefore allows The Snooty Fox to offer a locally foraged supply of this impressive organism.
Upon brewed, Chaga boasts a light earthy flavor that stands well on it’s own or makes a great addition to your favorite tea. As an adaptogen, it helps the body normalize functions when exposed to physical stressors such as allergies, colds, and strenuous physical activity. The abundance of nutritional vitamins and high antioxidant levels give way to the powerful restorative abilities of the ‘King Mushroom” that have been known to strengthen the body’s immune defense and protect cells from damage caused by free radicals.
Although it is naturally occurring in our forests, Chaga must be harvested ethically and sustainably in order for the mushroom to yield the greatest nutrients and to continue fruiting abundantly. You may spot a clump of Chaga growing whilst hiking, but we encourage you avoid disturbing the mushroom or attempting to pry it from a birch tree. It takes many years for Chaga to establish itself and mature into a harvestable source.
