Black Blends are created by combining different types of tea. English Breakfast, for example, is typically composed of Assam, Ceylon, and Kenyan teas. In addition to combining the tea itself, ingredients such as flowers, herbs, spices, fruit, and even smoke can be blended with the tea to create an incredible variety of aromas and flavors.

About Black Blends

Black Blends are created by combining different types of tea. English Breakfast, for example, is typically composed of Assam, Ceylon, and Kenyan teas.

In addition to combining the tea itself, ingredients such as flowers, herbs, spices, fruit, and even smoke can be blended with the tea to create an incredible variety of aromas and flavors. Some of our favorite Black Blends contain such ingredients as whole blueberries, clove, cornflower, and toasted almonds.

If you look carefully through our menu, you will also find some green teas present in our Black Blends. Toasty Chestnut contains the Japanese green tea, Houjicha!

Brewing Black Blends

Black Blends are prepared with boiling water. Steep time ranges from 3-5 minutes. It’s important to stop the steeping process as black tea will get very bitter if it’s brewed too long. We always encourage you, the tea drinker, to experiment with tea-to-water ratios and brew time. It’s amazing how much of a difference in taste one minute can make when brewing tea.
